Toubacouta is located on a mangrove delta where there are plentiful fish, lobsters and oysters in the region making this location the perfect place to fish. Thus, the local town's mainstay relies on fishing.

Les Paletuviers, considers this the real Africa - as it opens her doors to us once we visit.

The Paletuviers estate is located in the edge of the ‘Sine Saloum’ national park. The unique landscape of the delta is bordered by the commercial town of Kaolack to the east, the Gambia river to the south, the Atlantic Ocean to the west and Joal to the north.

This natural reserve, which has been protected since 1976, comprises no less than 183,000 acres. It’s in this region that two rivers, the Sine and the Saloum, join together. The area is scattered with small islands and is interspersed with innumerable small branches of water winding their way from the rivers and Bolons.

Abountly covered with vegetation, Mother Nature has given birth to some really unique flora and fauna, juggling with the natural forces earth and water. More than 653 species of birds, monkeys, seals, giant rays and innumerable species of fishes found their habitat in Sine Saloum Delta.
